Customer Review: The grandkids were helping.... and loved it!

After owning a number of slicers/cutters/graters over the years, both manual and electric, I was frustrated. I still kept going back to the old way, cutting board and knife, very time consuming- and painful for somebody like me with arthritis. Then I remembered hearing about the salad shooter and thought, OK, I'll try one last appliance for cutting up veggies. My salad shooter arrived in the mail, and I took it to my son's family for a first run, with 4 kids ages 3 to 12.
We assembled our veggies for a salad (carrots, cucumbers, radishes, red onions, mushrooms, but I cut the lettuce leaves and tomatoes the old fashioned way). The kids all took turns helping, they fought over who got to put the veggies into the shoot. We were done slicing a huge bowl of veggies in under 5 minutes. They were standing around the bowl "stealing" sliced veggies by the hand-fulls, and I heard "hmmm yummy, can I have some more?" We all agreed, thinly sliced veggies taste a lot better!
The next day we made fondue. Previously the older kids were my "cheese graters", they didn't like the job. This time, again.... all stood around the bowl, helping and watching perfectly grated cheese fill up the bowl... we were done in a matter of a couple of minutes, a job that previously took 15, 20 minutes.
Clean-up was easy, storing no problem, it doesn't take up more space than an electric beater. I wish it wasn't as noisy as it is (it makes noise at the level of a blender), but then.. if you're done in under 5 minutes, does the noise really matter that much? Now my daughter-in-law wants her own salad shooter..... and I am looking forward to making a lot more veggie soups and salads at home. The search for the perfect veggie slicer is over!

Amazingly fast, the SaladShooter literally shoots out prepared food directly into a salad bowl or in neat piles for an assemble-your-own taco party. Featuring sharp stainless-steel cutting blades, the two interchangeable cones, one for shredding and one for slicing, each slip in and out of the main chute and are secured in place with a twist-lock ring. That?s all--no complicated parts to assemble. Food should be cut into blocks or lengths that fit into the food chamber, and a chart in the user guide specifies which cone to use for which foods. To operate, one hand grips the handle of the shooter and flips on the power switch, while the other hand presses down on the food guide to produce a steady output of shredded or sliced food.
